Scott Anderson and his wife, Sarah, and teenage sons, Luke and Wade, typically spend about 400 hours a year on their boat doing just about everything that you can imagine on the water. Truly, they are living The Grady Life! Their loyal ownership and enthusiastic enjoyment of our boats make them featured Grady-White fanatics. The breaking news is that the family is moving up to their fourth Grady–an even roomier, brand new 2019 Express 330. (We’ll have to wait to see if the 330 will be named Hotspur, as have the Andersons other three Grady-Whites, starting with a 1996 27-foot Sailfish, then a 2007 30-foot Marlin, and then a new 2017 Marlin.)

The Andersons note that performance, safety, and versatility are key factors that keep bringing them back to Grady-White when choosing the perfect boat for their family. The brand is clearly dedicated to safety, building in standard features like unsinkable foam flotation, a true self-bailing cockpit, overboard draining fish boxes, a bow rail made of 316 grade stainless steel, and cockpit toe rails–all making Grady unique.

With such a well-built boat, the family can focus on the pure pleasure of their many boating activities. The family enjoys comfortable cruising, and the teenagers are already seasoned anglers and hold Florida Boater Safety cards, not to mention that all four are certified scuba divers.

It is not unusual for the family to travel 65 miles offshore for a day of fishing. The Gradys make the ride out and back comfortable and safe, thanks to the proven SeaV hull design.

An enclosed cabin plus a hardtop with aluminum frame and a wide, ventilated tempered glass windshield, are favorite features of the 300. “This protects everyone, and keeps them dry during rough weather, and the hardtop is great for shade from the sun,” Scott explains. The Andersons’ new 330 sports the optional AV hardtop, with an electronically sliding sunroof with screen and shade.

The family finds that there’s a place for everything, and everything’s in its place on their Gradys. This seasoned fishing family loved all the rod holders and rod storage racks that both their Marlin 300s had to offer. Their new Express 330 will be a serious offshore blue water fishing machine, too, and they know the extra length and beam offer even more room and storage for their adventures.

The Andersons plan to take their latest boat on extended vacations. In the past, they’ve headed to the Florida Keys, staying on the boat or at marina hotels. Lately their favorite destination is West End, Grand Bahama, and the Out Islands of the Bahama Banks. Their Gradys have no problem handling the Gulf Stream crossing. “In just three to four hours from West End, you can get to places in the Bahamas where you’ll see no one,” said Scott. It’s in those places the family likes to fish, spearfish, and dive for lobster and conch. The cockpit is plenty roomy enough to accommodate four divers in full gear, or two to three anglers fighting fish, without getting in each other’s way.

On those gorgeous Bahamas evenings after soaking up the sun and sea all day, the Anderson family cooks up their catch, which they say is “so fresh it’s from the future!” The family specialty is conch ceviche. At home in Jacksonville, they enjoy taking the Grady to favorite waterside restaurants.

With Grady’s designed-in versatility and with an adventuresome family who understands the value of solid, sure comfort, plus elegance and quality, Grady Life just could not get any better. The memories they have made will last a lifetime and they are looking forward to making even more. Hats off and a big shout out to these wonderful Grady-White fanatics!
