Savor the past year and plan for next year’s fun in the sun!

While all the family is gathered together, the holidays are the perfect time to reflect on the past year and the fun you had on your Grady-White boat. Take the time to reminisce about these moments together. You may be surprised at what your children and grandchildren remember and recount as their favorite time on the boat. After a little reflection on the past year, get the family’s feedback on what they’d like to do in 2022. Compare calendars and go ahead and block off the time you’ll spend together. Then you’ll have plenty of time to get prepared.

If your children or grandchildren are getting to an age where they’re ready to start tubing or learning to water ski, be sure you have the proper equipment. That old tube from years gone by may have dry rotted, and if you have wooden skis, they may need replacing. Check them out and consider purchasing new equipment if needed to improve the learning experience. While you’re at it, save some hot air and purchase an electric inflation pump for the tube so you can get on the water quickly.

If your crew wants to fish a new spot or cruise to a new destination, you may need to update your charts so you’re sure to have accurate channel information. You can also learn about changes to your local waterways here

Want to try fishing or have some new anglers joining the crew this year? Check here for fishing license information by state.

If you are going to be overnighting, go online and find a suitable hotel with ample dock space. Because hotels with docks can fill up fast, you may want to go ahead and book your reservation as soon as you know when you’ll be traveling.

It may also be a good time for the young adults in your family to take a boating course or get their license online. Visit the Discover Boating website for information about each state’s boating license requirements as well as courses and basic boat driving information and videos.
