Rub Rails

"I have struggled for a long time to get my rub rails looking good. The biggest problem is when the boat wax gets on the blue rubber and then of course the pilings that are always running into them leave bad marks. Anyway, I have tried many things ranging from SOS pads to acetone and never really got them looking great. Then, finally, I tried a very simple item that has helped me with many cleaning tasks on the boat: The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. WOW.. with just a little rubbing the rails look like new (except for the scratches and gouges from the rouge pilings). I use the “extra power” eraser and it took about 1 1/2 of them to go around the boat and only about 15 minutes of light rubbing. This was followed by a good rinse. Those erasers are powerful medicine. After everything was dry I followed up with a coat of Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze Vinyl and Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner #40. I just sprayed some on a small sponge and wiped the rails and that’s it. They look great." Dan
