A/C Flushing

We all flush our Yammys after each use, why not the A/C system? I didn’t like the idea of leaving salt water in the air conditioner for an extended period of time, so I put together the fresh water flush adapter pictured below and installed the fitting in the ¾” hose after the strainer. The parts are available at Ace Hardware for under $8 and the installation took less than 20 minutes. To flush the A/C system, you simply remove the plastic plug from the top of the “T” fitting, screw in the garden hose adapter, attach the garden hose and turn on the water. The A/C unit is totally flushed in a few minutes (without having to power up the A/C unit) and with the sea cock closed, you do not loose the prime.

PS: Before moving forward with the project, I contacted customer service at Grady White and Domestic Marine Air, explained my idea and confirmed that the installation of the adapter would not interfere with the normal operation of the A/C unit and would not affect the warrantee.
