Boating fun in the sun means using sunscreen protection correctly! Take a look at these tips:
- Use a sunscreen/sunblock that is “broad spectrum,” meaning it protects against UVA and UVB rays.
- It is wise to use a sunscreen that is SPF 30 or higher.
- On the water, apply sunscreen at least every hour whether you and the kids are in the water or not. Sunscreen doesn’t last long, is not really very waterproof, and really doesn’t provide all-day protection despite what package labels may say.
- Wearing a hat with a good brim and a shirt with SPF fabric and long sleeves is best. Goods shirts and hats are available in our Grady Gear store. Or you can visit http://www.columbia.com/ for more choices.
If you are especially sun sensitive, we’ve heard good reports about Sun Precautions
apparel. SPF clothing of all kinds is also available from Lands End, ExOfficio, and Coolibar among others.
