Dolphinfish Research Program Update

On June 4th, 2005, Captain Howard Moseley and Don Hammond deployed the first pop-up satellite archival transmitter (PSAT) on a dolphinfish off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina, for the Dolphinfish Research Program (DRP). Since then, 34 PSATs have been deployed around the region by 19 different fishing teams working with the program.

This effort has amounted to the most widespread, comprehensive, and rapidly growing dataset on male and female horizontal and vertical movements, habitat utilization, behavior near fish aggregating devices (FADs), and schooling dynamics in the world.
