Knowing that luxury and comfort go hand in hand, Grady-White engineers work diligently to deliver customers the driest, softest, and safest ride. Pairing the incredible ride of the SeaV²® hull with superior seating designs is one of the many ways this goal is accomplished. Part of the process toward achieving high quality seating in all locations of the boat from the stern to the bow, comes from examining other premium products. “We know many of our customers have experience with other quality brands such as their vehicles and furniture,” notes Grady-White Product Designer, Christian Carraway. “So, in addition to using the knowledge we’ve gained by years of development in the marine industry, we also study the automotive industry for design elements that optimize the comfort of our helm seating.” This includes seat bottom angles, backrests angles and heights, footrest heights, and locations to the wheel, throttle, Helm Master® joystick, switches, and electronics. Ergonomic studies, paired with customer, dealer, and employee feedback, have all aided in the continuous improvement of our helm layouts. But the engineers don’t stop with just the helm. “We want everyone on the boat to experience the quality and comfort of our seating, and we want the seating to be versatile enough to make every one of our boats as equally suited for a day of cruising as they are for a day of offshore fishing,” says Carraway.

Comfort, relaxation, and styling design cues are taken from multiple world-renowned furniture brands and adapted to Grady-White products. Combining those design aspects with marine grade materials–such as stain resistant, water repellant vinyl and open cell foam that allows water to freely pass through–produces the most comfortable seats that are built to weather some of the harshest marine environments.

Grady-White boats are built to provide the very best platform for fishing, cruising, skiing, tubing, diving, overnighting, and the many other activities Grady owners like to enjoy. That long list of activities means versatility plays an important role in the design process and certainly applies to the seating arrangements. This has led Grady to design bow backrests that pivot out of the way for fishing, sun pad cushions that can be removed to reveal casting platforms, and in some instances, casting platforms that can be elevated to become a table. Some backrests fold up and down as well as slide in and out to expose storage areas or become serving trays. There are even backrests that slide up and down vertically to convert seats into lounges or sofas into berths. One of the most versatile of all seats is the patented aft cockpit seat that folds down for extra fishing or entertaining space and flips up with minimal effort for additional seating.
