News: Super Bowl Winner and Patriots Head Coach Belichick Donates His 22-foot Grady-White to Sail Newport, Renames His Freedom 307 VII Rings
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is once again the proud winner the Super Bowl! Sincere congratulations to Coach Belichick and the world-champion New England Patriots!
Coach Belichick is a winner in more ways than one. Belichick donated his older 22-foot Grady-White Tournament 225 to Newport’s non-profit public sailing center, Sail Newport, for use as a support vessel for events such as the Volvo Ocean Race, which makes its North American stop May 7-20, 2017. Belichick had renamed that boat, V Rings, several times to keep up with the number of Super Bowls won. The sturdy, seaworthy Grady-White will be used for youth and adult sailing programs, regattas, and other sailing events on Narragansett Bay.
“We are thrilled and grateful to Coach Belichick for donating his boat for use in our public sailing programs. The boat will be a support and safety vessel for all of our instructional programs and regattas,” Sail Newport Executive Director Brad Read stated. The boat will be delivered to Sail Newport in mid-February.
Belichick is currently the proud owner of a Grady-White Freedom 307, a perfect boat for taking victory laps around Boston and Cape Cod and Massachusetts bays! He has updated the name of his 307 to VII Rings, in honor of his seventh Super Bowl ring as a head or assistant head coach.
