Grady-White Receives Eighth Consecutive Customer Satisfaction Award and Highest Ranking in Coastal Fishing Boats in J.D. Power and Associates Study

Grady-White Boats was awarded an eighth trophy from J.D. Power and Associates when the company was ranked "Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Coastal Fishing Boats (17 to 30 Feet)"* for the eighth time in a row at the Miami International Boat Show, February 12, 2009.

Kris Carroll, Grady-White president, recognized the company's long-term management team as being a large factor in continuing to deliver the customer satisfaction levels that have earned the J.P. Power and Associates ranking. "David Neese, our vice president of engineering, has been with us for 33 years. Joey Weller, vice president of sales and marketing, has been with us 21 years."

"I speak for the whole organization, including our dealer network, in thanking our customers for their support in reporting their satisfaction with Grady-White boats," said Neese. "Customer expectations, technology and society are always changing and we continue to design boats that aim to provide real pleasure in life for our boat owners."

"Grady-White is the only company in the Coastal Fishing Boats segment that has received highest J.D. Power and Associates ranking, each time that these studies have been conducted," added Weller. "We have a tremendous advantage because our company culture has always placed the customer first, and has embraced the vision of Grady-White owner Eddie Smith in striving to keep our customers satisfied."

J.D. Power and Associates overall customer satisfaction scores are based on performance in eight categories: cabin, engine, ride and handling, helm and instrument panel, design and styling, sound system, water sports, and fishing.

J.D. Power and Associates is a global marketing information firm that represents the voice of the customer. The company is well known for customer satisfaction studies in the automotive industry.

With the introduction of the 30-foot LOA Tournament 307, Grady-White Boats not only has added a spectacular winner to a whole new category in boating-open, big water coastal cruisers-but also now offers the industry's most complete line of dual console style, multi-purpose boats from 18-30 feet. Continuous customer requests for a roomy, cruising-and-fishing boat with genuine oceangoing capability inspires the Grady-White Tournament 307. A great fit for families with homes or second homes at the coast or on lakes, and perfect for those with a wide range of water activity interests, the 10' 7" beam Tournament 307 kicks off Grady-White's 50th anniversary 2009 model year in breakthrough style. With amenities including a roomy head area superior to those aboard many open inland cruisers yet delivering saltwater-tough rugged quality, reliability, safety and performance, the Tournament 307 is an evolutionary step ahead in coastal boating.

"The variety of coastal waters and the growing recreational opportunities for fishing, diving, exploring, sightseeing, camping, resort activities and our Grady-White dealer and club events called for a new kind of boat," says Joey Weller, vice president of sales and marketing at Grady-White. "We have the answer with this incredible Tournament 307. More and more people understand the importance of spending real quality time with their families, so we know there is a substantial niche for this remarkably comfortable, versatile and functional oceangoing boat. This boat is created with an amenities level at or above what you'd expect to find in a top-of-the-line open inland family boat. The quality, reliability, safety and saltwater-tough performance define the Tournament 307 as a true Grady-White."

Although basic flotation is not required in boats greater than 20 feet, Grady-White's Tournament 307 is unsinkable, as are all Grady-Whites, with more than enough flotation foam sprayed into the hull to keep the boat from sinking in the event of an emergency. "Flotation safety is something our company has always felt strongly about," says Weller. "No boat brand has better certified flotation properties."

"The Tournament 307 is an especially appropriate boat for Grady-White to introduce in celebration of our 50th anniversary," says David Neese, Grady-White's vice president of engineering. "In the late 1970s and early 1980s our company learned to build saltwater fishing boats that are superior in function, and this boat continues that tradition in a very family-friendly way. In the 1990s, working with C. Raymond Hunt and Associates, we refined the Grady-White ride with our exclusive SeaV hull. Today, boat length for boat length, a Grady-White's ride is by far the best on the water and the Tournament 307 ride is simply superb.

"In the 1990s and early 2000s," Neese continues, "we listened to customers tell us all about what they are really doing on the water and wanting to do with their boats-and discovered that the variety is amazing. We also learned about the importance of a roomy head and seating comfort on an open family boat. Our dealers and customers upped the ante by urging us to incorporate these features and more in a boat with the size and performance to be safe and sure offshore, no matter what the conditions. Our current line of dual console coastal boats and especially the Tournament 307 is a product of our 50 years of history, and really fills the bill!"

Storage aboard the Tournament 307 is phenomenal, even for a 30-foot boat. There is roomy bulk storage under the bow seating for fishing tackle and rods, skis, wetsuits, dive gear-you name it. The starboard console offers both a big storage drawer and a big bulk storage area roomy enough for camping gear, beach toys and more. The lockable, stand up enclosed head area in the port console is convenient for a day on the water with the family. There is plenty of room in that head area for fishing rods in special storage racks that run underneath the bow seating, plus storage nets, drawers and bulk storage areas. For the kids you have aboard, you will appreciate the optional 3500 BTU air conditioning in the head enclosure, and the fold down head cover that creates a five-foot berth-just the right size for a youngster when sleepy time comes.

The Tournament 307 is most at home on a casual family fishing trip or a cruise but she will more than hold her own with any "serious fish boat" in her size range. She has the size to range well offshore for big game fish and has more than enough room to take a boat full of kids bottom fishing in the bay. She boasts a more than ample aft 251-quart fully insulated fish box, and an additional 150-quart fish or storage box under the bow seating on the starboard side. The cockpit is roomy and well equipped to accommodate trolling gear. The optional 32-gallon lighted livewell features Grady-White's full column water distribution inlet and an 1100 GPH pump. There are rod holders and rod racks galore, storage for all kinds of tackle, and plenty of room at the helm for all of the navigation equipment and electronics an avid fisherman and safety conscious family cruiser might require.

The Tournament 307 is perfect for sunset gazing or cocktail cruising with friends. A handsome optional hardtop provides protection and shade. The deluxe bench seats at the helm and companion areas are roomy enough for two. The bow area features seating surrounding a removable table that doubles its use in the cockpit area. A standard wet bar located behind the starboard helm seating includes a sink with a 32-gallon freshwater capacity, a trash compartment, and a Corian(R) countertop food and drink prep area. Under the wet bar, Grady offers a standard roomy storage drawer or an optional refrigerated drawer. An optional grill can be located under the countertop-great for on-board picnics. The grill can function with dockside power or via a battery-powered electrical system that can provide power for up to at least two hours on high without recharge.

The cockpit has a patented, electronically-operated full size extendable lounge seat aft of the companion seat, plus Grady-White's forward-facing patented fold away aft bench seating, creating what might be termed a "conversation pit" as much as a "cockpit." There are cup holders at every single seat and then some-17 in all. The standard stereo system (satellite ready) with speakers provides excellent sound.

There is a recessed freshwater shower on the transom that's great for cleaning sunglasses or reels, or for a quick rinse off after water sports. The starboard side of the transom features a sturdy fiberglass door with an oversized, super heavy-duty positive locking latch. This transom door provides access to a super-sturdy telescoping swim ladder. Grady-White's overboard-draining boxes and decks plus a pressurized raw water washdown ensure that clean up is always easy: everything just hoses down, soaps up and brushes off. Like every Grady-White, the Tournament 307 is completely self-bailing; all the boxes, decks, drain overboard by force of gravity. And of course, every piece of deck hardware aboard the Tournament 307 is premium grade 316 stainless.

Grady-White Boats is ranked "Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Coastal Fishing Boats (17-30 feet) Seven Times in a Row"* by J.D. Power and Associates.

Learn more about the new Grady-White Chesapeake 290!

The best way for Grady-White Boats to celebrate 50 years in business is to do what the company does best: introduce a customer-inspired boat full of "wish book" features and amenities! The all-new 2009 model year 29-foot Chesapeake 290 is just that, a terrific cabin boat with Grady-White's signature walkaround styling, safety and function, with a family-and-fishing-friendly emphasis and a "big boat" look and feel. In short, the new Chesapeake pays homage to many of the hallmarks that make Grady-White a company with a storied past and a very bright future.

"What sets the Chesapeake 290 apart from other coastal boats in this size range is just how enjoyable and easy it is to operate this new boat," says Joey Weller, Grady-White vice president of sales and marketing. "The spacious cockpit, cabin and helm areas, the very comfortable deluxe helm seating and optional "wraparound-style" companion seating, plus great visibility afforded by the large, well-ventilated protective windshield, will make this a super and safe investment for families who enjoy spending time together outdoors on the water."

"We've taken much of what we learned in the development and fine-tuning of our highly successful big outboards, the 33-foot and 36-foot Grady-White Express models, and transferred this knowledge to fulfill the requests of Grady-White customers who prefer a walkaround style," explains David Neese, vice president of engineering. "The fact is, we're the company that pioneered the walkaround 34 years ago and we've put years of refinement into this great new boat. Whether you're looking for serious fishing capability that is also family pleasing, or you're looking for a family-friendly boat complete with a roomy head and overnight sleeping comfort that can do the job right when a tuna bite is on, the new Chesapeake 290 has it all."

Families will be very happy with the transom area featuring a sturdy fiberglass door with a battleship-strength 316L stainless positive locking device. The transom door does double duty, opening wide to bring big game fish aboard, and serving as the family's swimming and diving access. The Chesapeake also has the biggest transom fish box of any boat in its class, a cavernous 265-quart insulated box with overboard drain. The box has a divider so in addition to holding the catch there is a separate area for bait or whatever you'd like to keep cool. Grady's patented folding aft bench seat (the best seat in the house!) is located just in front of the transom, and when in the up position not only really opens the deck but also allows ready access to the generator that provides power for air-conditioned cabin comfort.

The 56-square foot cockpit also has a starboard-side 132-quart insulated fish box, and a portside 35-gallon raw water livewell that really keeps bait alive with a powerful 1100 gallon per hour circulating pump plus a light and a full column distribution inlet. The livewell and all boxes are true self-bailing; everything drains overboard by the natural force of gravity.

Take a walk along the roomy walkaround to the foredeck. The Bowmar hatch on the foredeck offers great ventilation for the cabin below, and at 20 inches wide is big enough for a teenager to scramble through (try that in other brands of coastal boats)! The Chesapeake 290 also offers an improved low-profile windlass system with optional controls at the bow as well as at the helm.

The helm's all new flush-mounted, easy-to-read gauges are positioned above the big 316L stainless steering wheel. Backlit switches are easier to read in the low light of dawn or dusk, and instrument screens are right there. A handsome, newly styled hardtop encloses the helm area and has a radio box, roomy storage nets for PFDs and other items (an idea pioneered by Grady-White), spreader lights and four side-mounted rod holders. Hardtop drop, front and side curtains are also standard. AV outlets to charge your cell phone or power your MP3 player are located right at the cabin entrance.

Entering the cabin you immediately sense a big-boat feel accentuated by the use of handsome teak and holly in the cabin sole-a classic combination complemented by the attractive oval-shaped teak dinette table. Standard features of the portside galley include nice big teak shelving, Corian(R) countertops, a deep stainless sink, refrigerator, microwave oven, and an electric stove with touchpad flush controls. One look reveals genuine liveability in the new Chesapeake: the amply sized head provides plenty of privacy as well as a sink, stand-up shower and lots of space for toiletries and more. The Chesapeake should be particularly great for overnights. The starboard berth stretches a full 81 inches, and overnighters or afternoon nappers can crawl into the aft berth for a very comfortable snooze. Grady engineers think of everything: the cabin access steps are open-treaded to allow visibility into the aft berth, so parents can keep an eye on resting children. The forward low profile hatch and two opening screened windows draw in refreshing breezes. Cabin air conditioning is optional. There is also a DC television option that is cleverly fitted into the bow cabin area-a good choice if you have younger ones to entertain.

Aboard the Chesapeake, there is storage space for everything a family needs to enjoy a day on the water. The helm area includes roomy compartments beside the helm and companion seats, deep tackle drawers beneath the helm chair, and a large compartment beneath companion seating. The cockpit includes horizontal rod racks and a portside lift-out storage box in addition to the huge insulated ice and fish boxes. There are caches in nearly every conceivable place in the cabin including roomy galley shelves, strategically placed nets, three dry compartments under the forward vee berth, and the aft berth surface area.

Grady-White Is "Seven for Seven," Receiving CSI Award, NMMA's Top Customer Satisfaction Ranking Seven Times in a Row
The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) has again awarded Grady-White Boats the CSI Award, the trade association's top recognition for customer satisfaction. This award for 2008 is the seventh year of the association's study of customer satisfaction among boat and boat engine owners. Grady-White has received the award in its category of fiberglass outboard boats all seven years.

NMMA's CSI Awards aim to raise the bar for the consumer boating experience with a tool to measure and improve customer satisfaction, allowing manufacturers to monitor customer satisfaction on an ongoing basis. The companies receiving awards achieved a benchmark score of 90% or better from model year 2008 boat owners who rated "overall satisfaction with boat (or engine)." NMMA employed an independent firm to survey and measure the satisfaction ratings. Grady-White received an exceptionally high benchmark score.

Thom Dammrich, president of NMMA, will formally make the award presentation October 8, 2008, at the 6th Annual IBEX Industry breakfast hosted at the Miami Beach Convention Center. He will recognize Grady-White's commitment to quality, as well as customer satisfaction, and support of industry efforts to enhance the consumer boating experience.

Breakthrough Outboard-Powered Grady-White 33' Express 330 Redesigned for Model Year 2008

Beam Amidships: 11' 7"
Bridge Clearance: 9' 10"
Center Line Length: 33' 6"
LOA(w/pulpit): 35'10"
Cockpit Depth: 29"
Cockpit Square Footage: 80 sq. ft.

Hull Draft: 25"
Maximum HP: 700
Outboard Shaft Length: 25"
Standard Fuel Capacity: 350 gal.
Transom Width: 10' 6"
Weight w/o Engines: 10,000 lb.

Apparently the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" doesn't get much credence around Grady-White Boats, at least not when applied to revamping the phenomenally successful Express 330 cabin model, a breakthrough outboard-powered boat for the entire marine industry and named Boating magazine's 2001 "Boat of the Year." Six years of customer experience and feedback, and evolving outboard power options, led Grady-White to again raise the bar in the coastal boat category with the 2008 Express 330, introducing more than 40 important changes in this highly praised boat.

With characteristic attention to detail and taking clues from the Grady-White 36' flagship Express 360, the company has made a great boat even better by enhancing the handsome lines and Express styling, improving the already excellent functionality and comfort, plus broadening the choice of power options for the boat to include Yamaha's new F350s.

"It's no secret that Yamaha has a home run with the new F350 engines," says Joey Weller, director of sales and marketing at Grady-White. "Although other engine choices like the Yamaha F250s work very well on this boat, the powerful F350s are an incredible match. The Express 330 with twin F350s has an optimum cruise that hums along efficiently at 3900 rpm and 32.3 mph, and the top end with F350s is 50 mph! No doubt about it, the new Express 330 delivers first-class performance and the 350-gallon fuel capacity provides a long-range ride to the fishing grounds and for cruising."

"Because the Express 330 is a big 33-footer, the helm area is a great place to enjoy a boat ride," says David Neese, Grady-White vice president of engineering. "We further enhanced passenger visibility by raising the helm area seating a full five inches along with raising the height of the windshield significantly, and adjusted the sight angles of the gauges and controls and made fuses easy to reach from the helm. Furthermore, we wanted to make the entire helm area extra comfortable so we've also added a new option for a 12,000 BTU helm air conditioning system accompanied by standard easy-to-use track-to-track canvas and surrounding isinglass. The standard hardtop features plenty of lockable, easy-to-see electronics areas and handy storage nets, plus a new hatch to ensure great ventilation. There's a nice new storage tray in the starboard helm area, and a new footrest at the helm and companion seat. There's roomier walkthrough space from the cockpit into the helm area, too. The 330 surround seating helm area has always been a great gathering place, and now is even more so."

A convenient Elite digital panel controls standard cabin air conditioning. The standard 4 KW diesel generator provides power for all boat systems. Diesel fuel capacity has been increased to 13 gallons for additional running time. When necessary, the generator is accessible via a very convenient hatch under Grady-White's patented, fold-down aft bench seat-deemed the best seat in the house by many Grady-White owners.

Since 2001, sportsmen and women have been avid fans of the Express 330 and the model year 2008 upgrades will please this fishing crowd. Over the years, Grady-White has set the industry standard for fishing machines under 40' and the feature-laden Grady-White 2008 Express 330 continues this tradition. The placement and quality of the sportfishing features demonstrate that real fishermen are behind the design.

There's a remote switch panel for a 45-gallon livewell, spreader lights and raw water washdown. The livewell houses a powerful 1100 GPH circulating pump, a light, and a full column distribution inlet to ensure lively bait. A gunwale washdown system is redesigned for easier use. The transom offers a swim platform with a new-style telescoping ladder, a fiberglass door with a heavy-duty positive locking device, a dry storage area, plus a 254-quart insulated fish box with overboard drain. A digitally controlled refrigeration/freezer option is available for this aft cooler and the helm cooler box, keeping contents at just the right temperature. A freshwater washdown/cockpit shower with new stainless covering cap is also handy at the transom. The 80-square foot cockpit is a full 10'6" wide, and rod holders and rod storage areas surround the cockpit for easy access to tackle. A full rigging station with sink and pullout faucet is at starboard. The livewell and all boxes are true self-bailing; everything drains overboard by the natural force of gravity for safety and easy clean up.

Grady-White Express models have always taken full advantage of the additional cabin room resulting from outboard power, and the 2008 interior improvements are remarkable.

The cabin entrance top slides open and is conveniently hidden out of the way. Steps down into the cabin have new treading for better grip. The master switch panel is located conveniently right inside the cabin at the bottom of the steps and has been upgraded to include color-coded and individually labeled advanced precision wiring.

Galley cabinetry and galley drawers have been upgraded to teak. Galley storage now opens wider than ever for easier access. Standard features in the galley include a sink, refrigerator, microwave oven, CorianAE countertops and electric glass top stove. Freshwater capacity is an ample 56 gallons. The teak and holly cabin sole is nice and wide, and the teak dinette table is larger for greater utility. A removable seat adds another person at the dinette when needed. There is storage in nearly every conceivable place aboard the Express 330 including roomy shelves, dry storage compartments under the very large forward vee berth, plus handy storage nets. The aft berth is out of the way and features a new headliner for 2008.

Entertainment features include a standard 15" flatscreen TV with DVD player and AV inputs. In addition, the Express 330 offers a standard stereo system with MP3 inputs and satellite ready auxiliary radio inputs.

Starboard inside the cabin is an enclosed, ventilated head area with sink, shower, lamps, storage cabinet, air conditioning, and a VacuFlushAE head with 10-gallon holding tank. Plumbing aboard the 2008 Express 330 also has been upgraded with rigid plumbing for all freshwater systems.

The proven SeaV2AE hull developed with C. Raymond Hunt and Associates delivers a ride that is beyond any other in the class.

"The Canyon 336 brings together what customers and dealers have asked for in a big, powerful center console that blends comfort and convenience with first-class fishing features to ensure success on those long offshore trips," says David Neese, vice president of engineering at Grady-White. "This boat is a stand-out with an innovative helm and seating, super cockpit arrangement, and a lockable console interior filled with great features including a berth. It's the many small details that make the Canyon 336 a big, beautiful picture. And what performance! While the 336 is available with twin Yamaha F250 four stroke engines, with the newly available F350 four stroke Yamahas she just hums along and cruises efficiently at over 30 mph with a top speed over 50 mph."

"To begin with," says Joey Weller, Grady-White director of sales and marketing, "the lean bar/helm seating is different than what you typically see. The helm seat is on the centerline instead of situated to port so passengers can easily come and go on either side of the helm and not have to squeeze by, making tending bait, fishing lines and dock lines effortless. The ease of boat operation at the lean bar is nothing short of fantastic for comfort, ergonomics and visibility. Throttles and controls are up front and center, easy to use. The electromechanically operated electronics enclosure is adjustable to suit any helmsman's viewing height, or weather conditions and time of day. Complete protection is provided for electronics when the enclosure is lowered. Plus, the sleek all-new fiberglass T-top option offers the offshore fisherman a mammoth radio box, rod holders, radial mounted outriggers, net storage (great for PFDs), a dome light, molded-in sound system speakers plus molded-in spreader lights fore and aft."

Weller continues, "The big windshield is safety glass, not Plexiglas. The helmsman and passengers can sit in the adjustable chair or fold up a seat bolster to create a deluxe lean station for themselves, and either way there are deluxe cushions, armrests and footrests for genuine comfort. There is an even a 4 kW diesel generator option that powers an air conditioning in the helm area and console interior. If you think of a center console as a macho, bare bones fishing platform, this boat will absolutely change your mind. This boat's comfort actually enhances the fishing function."

The helm seating support structure has the added benefit of providing additional space for fishing features. For starters, aft of the companion seat is a roomy 45-gallon lighted livewell equipped with an 1100 gph pump and full column aeration-a proven system for lively bait. The livewell drains overboard for easy clean up, as do all Grady boxes. The area also incorporates a rigging station with freshwater washdown, a 104-quart cooler, tackle drawers, six rod holders, plenty of bulk storage and even a handy holder for a fishing knife and two pairs of pliers. An available option is a second livewell with a 26-gallon capacity in lieu of the 104-quart cooler.

With Grady-White's patented aft foldaway bench seat in the stowed position, the Canyon aft cockpit measures a roomy 80 square feet. With six rod holders on the gunwale, six rod holders on the lean bar and five more in the T-top, more than enough tackle is ready to go. Add two freshwater outlets, a cutting board atop the cavernous 291-quart aft fish box, a pressurized raw water washdown, a big fiberglass transom door with a super heavy-duty latch and positive locking device, and you will see that the aft cockpit is a bait rigger's delight, ready for multiple hook-ups with those big eye and yellowfin tuna. The big aft fish box is even offered with a refrigerator/freezer option including digital thermostat temperature controls.

The bow anchor, windlass and anchor locker package is another innovation that makes moving from one spot to another nearly effortless. Raising and lowering the anchor is controlled from the helm or from the windlass area. With the touch of a button, a sturdy plow anchor is extended and retracted through the bow. The anchor and rode rest in an easy accessed locker out of the way-a safety plus. The overboard-draining locker means less maintenance, too.

The bow area also features 165-quart insulated fish boxes port and starboard that double as seating. Access forward all the way to the bow is at one level, which really helps when fishermen are chasing their quarry. Deck hardware is not only through-bolted premium-grade 316 stainless but is flush-mounted to stay out of the way when not needed. An optional insert changes the whole bow to a roomy casting platform, and with the optional cushions is a great sun deck. Comfortable cushioned seating for three is just forward of the console.

The lockable console features a roomy stand-up head enclosure with standard VacuFlushAE head, a nice deep sink and a freshwater shower. An optional microwave oven heats food and beverages. There is even a berth that extends forward, providing additional storage space or a place for a tired fisherman to get a little rest. A screened window provides ventilation. Optional air conditioning adds to the comfort. There is an enormous amount of deep bulk storage in the console. Roomy drawers and net storage keep items easy to locate. There's a stand-up rack for six rods and more than enough room to lock up and store many more. The whole area looks great, too, with teak accents and a teak cover over the head itself. Access to the switch box and boat systems controls is right inside the console door, with color-coded wiring that makes maintenance a snap.

"Consider the trademark SeaV2AE ride, the new highly efficient power options, Grady-White's hallmark safety features and incredible structure. Then add superior hardware including a handsome stainless steel rub rail insert," says Neese. "Together with specifications like a 350-gallon fuel capacity, you have to conclude that the 336 is a super boat dedicated to fishermen who want the very best. The name "canyon" is very apt for a long-range fishing boat with the comfort features to double as a great family day boat, too!"
