How Many Aboard?
If you live where the temperature drops below 32 degrees Fahrenheit then it is important to winterize all of your boat systems. This includes the fresh water tank, hot water heater, marine head, hoses, water pumps, water filters, air conditioner, generator and related sea strainers. The best way to accomplish this is by adding antifreeze to the fresh water tank, and open all faucets. Use non-toxic antifreeze designed specifically for freshwater, found at most marine and RV retailers. Environmentally friendly automotive antifreeze can be used on the air conditioning and generator seawater cooling hoses, pumps and strainers. Storing Your Outboard Engine If your outboard engine is being stored for more than two months it is important to flush the cooling system with freshwater. Add fuel stabilizer to the fuel system, and fog the engine. The engine should be stored in the running or down position. See your outboard engine owner's manual for more details. New Yamaha Motor Support Yamaha has a new device to help support the motor during trailering and storing. This device takes the load off the tilt pistons and provides more support to the motor. This new motor trailering support can be purchased through your nearest Grady-White or Yamaha dealer. |
