KENT TAUBENSEE shows off a 36-lb. king mackerel caught near Naples, FL., fishing aboard a
Bimini 306.

Mackerel Is King
Dear Anchorline:
I thought I'd send you a picture of the 36-lb. king mackerel I caught off Naples, FL, on February 26. We were fishing for grouper on our Bimini 306 and noticed this guy cruising around. I threw out a pinfish hooked to my grouper rig and as soon as the bait hit the surface the 25-minute fight was on. Boy did he run. I thought I would have to pull the anchor and start the engines as I was almost out of line. He despoiled my reel at least three times. What a fish!

Thanks for making such a great boat! We love our Bimini 306.

LIZ GANTNIER REPORTS that on April 25, their second day of fishing for the season, her husband Jeff caught this 50-inch striped bass in the Potomac aboard their Sailfish 282. The Gantniers are Norfolk Marine customers.

MICHAEL DOPUDJA OF MANTEO, NC, far right, along with friends David Thompson and Brian Bauer from Virginia, caught a bluefin tuna in February 2008 while fishing for rock out of Oregon Inlet aboard his Islander 270.

JUSTIN LEFFERT, right, caught his first tarpon in Eggmont Channel, Tampa Bay, FL, while accompanied by Trever Flathman aboard the Greg Leffert family's Sailfish 282.

Minnesota Seafarer
Dear Anchorline:
We purchased our Grady-White Seafarer 228G in August 2007 from Resort Marine in Walker, Minnesota. Everyone at Resort Marine has been wonderful and very helpful in every way possible. We keep our Grady at our lake home on 112,000-acre Leech Lake in Minnesota, and our 228G handles the water superbly. We love our Grady-White and so does our seven-year-old German shorthair pointer, Buddy. Buddy loves to ride in the bow and has become well known around the lake. We are looking forward to many enjoyable years in our Seafarer, and plan on using it offshore around Florida in a few years when we retire.

We do keep safety in mind with Buddy. In rough water and when traveling at higher speeds, we keep Buddy down from the sides and back in the cockpit area. This could be a good tip for everyone who has pets ride in the boat.

ADVANCE 247 OWNERS Christopher and Malissa Grande were blessed with triplets, Alexander, Katherine and Michael, in July 2007, and dealership Spellmans Marine sent bibs. Here's wishing many happy days to this Grady family!

CASEY, three years old, caught her first fish aboard grandparents Cliff and Debbie Ingram's Seafarer 226, Shady Grady.

VICTOR PELAEZ AND CREW finished second overall in last August's Miami Family
Fishing Tournament.

Miami Family Fishing
Dear Anchorline:
My teammates and I entered our first offshore fishing tournament last August, and we finished a very respectable second place overall, and won the individual prize for largest single fish. The event was the Miami Family Fishing Tournament. Our team name is "That's What She Said," and we fish on a 2005 Advance 257 powered by twin Yamaha 150 4-stroke engines. We are honored to wear the Grady-White name on our team clothing.
