A TOTAL OF 12 LING COD WERE CAUGHT during the Friday Harbor fishing derby, ranging from six to 15 pounds.
The
Northwest Grady-White Club headed to Friday Harbor, WA, for a rendezvous the first weekend in May. This club is sponsored by Jacobsen's Marine of Seattle, WA. A pig roast at Dos Diablos with a birthday party for Sandy Berman, complete with a pinata for the kids, was a highlight. The group even made a pet of the local harbor seal, Popeye. Thanks to the organizational skills of Jeff and Tamara Melvin, all went smoothly for the 21 boats registered; nearly 50 people attended the awards dinner. The big winner of the fishing derby with a 15-lb. ling cod caught on an East Coast jig was Paul Nicholson from North Carolina, son-in-law of member Wes Williams.

their boats.

The
Somers Point Grady-White Club is 30 members strong and growing. Their February 9 annual meeting followed a day at the Atlantic City Boat Show. Five events are planned for the year including a fishing seminar, a Boating 101 night, a family fishing tournament, a luau dock party and a fall tournament and barbecue. Somers Point Marina, Somers Point, NJ, sponsors this group.

Southern New England Grady-White Club enjoyed an after hours social February 23, following an Open House held by sponsor Boats Incorporated, Niantic, CT. Eleven boats' crews enthusiastically dined on Italian delights by candlelight while the music of Andre Bocelli played in the background. Club members chatted about where they do their boating, which ranges from Stratfort, CT, to Cape Cod, MA–a coastline of 200 miles.
The
Suncoast Grady-White Club kicked off their spring boating season March 1 with a lunch cruise to the Crow's Nest, Venice, FL. Thirty-eight people comprised the fleet, and the day was perfect for an outside passage on the Gulf as the fleet set out from Sarasota, FL. Accompanying them were schools of dolphin that made the day even more special. Thanks go to trip leaders Rex and Teresa Nelson, from Palmetto, FL. THE GRADY-WHITES IN PARADISE CLUB, sponsored by Caribee Boat Sales & Marina in Islamorada, FL, journeyed to Hawk's Cay Resort on Duck Key for a Sunday brunch at The Waters Edge.
THE TARPON COAST GRADY-WHITE BOAT CLUB, sponsored by Ingman Marine, Port Charlotte, FL, cruised the Intracoastal Waterway to South Seas Plantation Island Resort located on the northern tip of Captiva Island. Forty-one members and guests gathered for lunch at the Harborside Bar & Grille on February 24.
The first event for the
Tidewater Grady-White Club was held March 9, at Chick's Oyster Bar. The top five activities of interest to the Norfolk Marine, Norfolk, VA-sponsored group, as identified at a fall organizational meeting, are fishing schools and tournaments, a Grady-White plant tour, day cruises and picnics, and opportunities for buddy boats to broaden their owners' horizons further offshore.
Southeastern Mariners Grady-White Club members rendezvoused at Fishing Bay Harbor Marina, Deltaville, VA, for their first striped bass tournament. NOAA weather called for small craft advisories but the party went on for the more than 50 attending the event sponsored by Southeastern Marine, Richmond, VA.
