Steam Cleaning
What is the best way to clean your interior cabin cushions? Hot water extraction, better known as "steam cleaning," is a good method. In the past we've suggested dry cleaning; however, this requires removing the fabric cover from the foam form and that can be a difficult task. You do not have to remove the cover when steam cleaning. To find a reputable steam cleaner near you, call 800-835-4624. For minor stains, most over-the-counter upholstery cleaners do a good job as well.

Ultraviolet Rays
Ultraviolet or UV rays from the sun can cause discoloration in a boat's gel coat. We recently discovered some products specifically formulated to correct UV damage. Both are made by Aurora Marine: Boat Scrub and Boat Clean. We found that applying a 50-50 mix of these products helps remove discoloration. It is important to apply a UV protectant wax or polymer afterwards to prevent further discoloration, and many good ones are on the market. Aurora Marine products can be found at many marine retailers and some Grady-White dealers. Check out www.auroramarine.com.

Soffit vents can be cut to size and used to create shelves behind the toe rails on your Grady-White Boat.

Soffit Vents and Toe Rails
Gulfstream 232 owner Bob Fesko suggests a clever way to gain even more storage on your Grady: use vinyl soffit vents found at any home builder supply store, cut to fit behind the toe rails. These make convenient shelves without affecting the use of the toe rail, and the water passes right through.
